In the Mathematics master’s degree program students build on what they learned in their undergraduate degree, expanding their learning of mathematic theories, methods, and skills. The program offers students a high degree of flexibility when choosing courses allowing them to find their own individual specialization. They can choose to focus on the following fields. Numerical mathematics: Here students may take modules on Computational Finance or Control or Matrix Theory. Differential equations, functional analysis, non-linear optimization, and modeling: Examples of modules in this component are Functional Analysis II or Inverse Problems. Stochastics and financial mathematics: Here students can study Actuarial Mathematics or Stochastic Processes in Evolution. Geometry and mathematical physics: In this component students can further their knowledge in Differential Geometry II or Mathematic Visualization. Discrete mathematics and algebra: Students choosing this focus may study Convex Geometry or Approximation Algorithms.
This specialized knowledge is supplemented with an elective component, where students can choose further fields of mathematics to study as well as pursue other non-math-related subject matter.
